More competition from the world of Hip-Hop?

Ok, so it’s n0t exactly that crazy. This time Dre and Jay-Z have a new battle for ownership- Ownership of your ears that is.

We all know Dr. Dre has his successful line of headphones out. He even inspired Lady Gaga to release her own set to the public and Diddy also has a set coming out. Now, Jay-Z wants to get in the headphones game. You know how some rappers say “turn me up in my headphones”– they all want you to be wearing theirs!

Jay-Z said yesterday that he is launching his new Roc Nation “Aviator” headphones. If you want to grab a pair. Get ready to shell out $149.00 bucks. They’ll be available in white, brown and black. They are supposed to offer platinum sound and tangle free cord and other fancy features.

Jay-Z said, “Our passion is creating amazing music. We’re dedicated to delivering the best in live performances. Now with the Roc Nation/Skullcandy partnership, we’re offering the best way for people to experience the soundtrack of their lives.”

As the Imaging Director at 98.5 KLUC, I am an absolute audio geek. I make all those little things you hear between songs on 98.5 KLUC, and my ears are very picky. Looks like I’ll have to try both of these and maybe trade in the Sony’s? We’ll see…..
