vanderbosch 3 Remembering Mr. VanDerbosch

A man who was killed following an early-morning robbery was identified yesterday as Tim Vanderbosch, a physics and chemistry teacher at Eldorado High School.

Students were informed of the death during the day and given a letter to bring home to their parents.

Police said Vanderbosch was hit by a white Nissan Maxima with possible damage to its front while he walked to work near Washington Avenue and Betty Lane.

Witnesses who called police said Vanderbosch had been attacked and beaten by several Hispanic males before being accidentally run over by a car passing by, police said.

That motorist stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, police said.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found Vanderbosch lying in the westbound lanes of Washington. He was transported to University Medical Center where he died of his injuries, police said.

The white Nissan had been linked to a robbery reported shortly after 2 p.m. at Lake Mead Boulevard and Los Feliz Street.

A man and woman told police they were forced out of their car at gunpoint and robbed by four Hispanic men.

The same men were linked to three other robberies, police said.

“These individuals showed a wanton disregard for human life,” police spokesman Bill Cassell said.

Police described the men as four or five Hispanic men in their early 20′s. They are believed to be driving a white four-door compact sedan, possibly a 1998-2000 Nissan Maxima, with unknown license plates.

Anyone with information concerning this crime is urged to call Metro’s Homicide Section at 702-828-3521 or, to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or visit its website . Tips directly leading to an arrest or an indictment processed through Crime Stoppers may result in a cash reward.

You will alway remain in my heart Sir. I will remeber you till the day i pass. Its been five years out of high school but i remember you like it was yesterday. I live on the east side of town with you sir. I will keep my eyes open for you and my hat off. This is the time for all or us to stand up for justice. We need to change our city. I know with the help of our community and law we can do this. We must find the killers and stop them from hurting others. RIP Sir.

He was such a great teacher and he will be deeply missed..

  • belinda

this is too tragic too sad to think such a great teacher who was so dedicated to his students had to suffer so much.it was far from shocking. RIP. i think we need to all speak up for his justice.

  • D Maascola

I am happy that you are taking the opportunity to publicize this tragedy! I am a teacher at an elementary school not far from the scene and live even closer to the accident. About 1/2 of my students eventually go to Eldorado, along with my own daughter. It is sad to loose such a dedicated and hard working teacher in a time which they are so needed!

  • Christie

It has been 7 years since i was in your class, shaking your hand at graduation 5 years ago, reminds me your a great man, not only a great teacher, but also a great friend…. you will be greatly missed.. R.I.P. Mr. Vanderbosh…. I will never forget you.. You are the one who made me go to college for science. Thank you

  • Denise

The class of 2009 had the honor to be in his 1st ever Physics II class at Eldorado. He was so excited for this class because it was something he’s been wanting to do for a long time. He bonded with us students a lot more this year & we all got closer to him that year. I, along with my classmates, will all miss him very much! RIP Vandy!

Mr. Vanderbosh was one of the most intelligent and passionate people I’ve ever met and his life has been a direct influence to me and has helped me find my calling in life. His life is irreplaceable and his legacy is unforgettable. Mr Vanderbosh, i only hope to be able to accomplish the equal amount of positive influence upon the students i hope to one day teach. Rest In Peace.

  • D J

Thanks Mr Vanderbosh for being such a positive and constructive example on this journey we call life that seems to pass by far too fast. *Remember to tell those around you how much you love and appreciate them often.

You were loved by most and will be missed by many and know the heartless thieves will see their karma returned to them 10 fold.

    Blessings my dear friend….

    R. I. P.

I may not have had you as a teacher, but grew to know you through my sister. My sister talked so highly of you & giggled and enjoyed your company everyday while she was forced to come to school early due to me having band! As seen through the hall ways you lighted so many kids faces up, they always loved coming to your class! You were such an amazing person, you will always be remembered for the things you did for us students at Eldorado. May you R.I.P!!

  • Jessica

I grew up on the eastside, was his physics student in 2006 and graduated in 2007. He was so passionate about the subject matter and strove to assist the very types that caused his violent death. He wore a blue shirt to class every day and if there is a service open to the public, the eldog family and surrounding community should wear a blue button up in his honor. Thanks for the dedication Vandy, you’ve touched so many!

  • Mary

This realy saddens me to know that some one can harm another in this manner. my heart goes out to the family …R.I.P

  • Morgan Mills

Mr. Vanderbosch was a man who taught with so much passion and enthusiasm. If you ever had him you would agree that his heart was dedicated to teaching and helping students succeed. He truly cared about his students. Whenever any of his students names were in the newspaper for athletics, he would cut it out of the paper and tape it to the table the student sat at, just to let us know we did a good job. I also had the opportunity of taking physics II with him. It breaks my heart that this great man was beaten and left in the cold street to die. I pray to God that these filthy criminals be caught and justice be served. Mr. Vanderbosch will be remembered as a man who taught with everything that he had. Rest in Peace Mr. Vanderbosch. You will never be forgotten!

This is tragic. He will be missed. Even though I had never met him, it seems that he was truly a loved person. You will be missed and I’ll be wearing a blue shirt for him. R.I.P. Mr. Vanderbosch.

We lost a man who loved what he did. There are very few teachers out there that EVERY student they can say something good about them. Mr. VanDerbosch was one of them. When i first had him i thought he was a little out there come to find out, he was but in the right way. He would never let anyone slack and for that even… if you decided to just stare at the wall that day i would put money you still learned something. He is one of the major reasons i personally what to go into physics. And for that Mr. VanDerbosch I will miss you. And I will be there monday to see you off. Godspeed.

  • Ryan

I had his class around 2001 and i remember he was a great teacher!!!!

  • Amber

He was the best teacher i’ve ever had. He was my favorite teacher and many of us are impacted from this. He touched everyone’s life in some way. He would help you until you get it. His goal was to see everyone graduate. Teaching is something he really loved. Mr. Vanderbosch really got into what he was teaching. He would jump up and down and get excited. Tuesday he told my class. “It’s 9.81m/s Squared! You can’t forget the Squared!” And that he was proud of our class, he told us to have a good day and that he’d see us tomorrow. Who would have thought tomorrow wouldn’t happen? Mr.Vanderbosch, We all miss you so very much! Every time I walk past your class and the door is shut and your not standing there I start crying. It’s not the same without you here. Having you 1st period is making this a little harder. I’m wearing blue today to honor you. I’m also wearing blue on mondy with the candle light. R.I.P Mr. Vanderbosch.

  • Doug Dobmeyer

I am a cousin of Tim Vanderbosch. I was saddened to hear of the murder – for what – a few coins or the thrill. This reflects on our society and the job we must do to make it work better.

    RIP

Mr. VanDerbosch, ha I remember the first day of Chemistry I was spelling your name for the first time and your face lit up and you said “Hey! You got VanDerbosch right :) .” It doesn’t seem real that you’re not here with us anymore. Passing your class is the hardest thing, just knowing you’re not there to say hello to anymore. You were my only reason for trying to get into Physics this year. I wish, god, I wish I would of tried harder. I don’t even want a science class anymore. I will never forget you. You were someone who cared about each student. You were determined to have us all pass your class and other classes as well. I’m glad and so grateful to have known you. You can’t imagine how many friends, teachers, and students here miss you. I thank you for having the pleasure to have had your awesome, irreplaceable class. I also thank you because your class brought me a best friend. There will never be another teacher like you. Everytime I see a meter stick, a periodic table, a pair of rounded glasses or a blue shirt, I’ll always be reminded of you. I wish the best for your family. Everyone down here loves and misses you Mr. VanDerbosch, R.I.P. <3 Take care.

  • David Hopper

Is there going to be a public memorial in town ? Would like to send condolences to family. I taught with him at El Dorado back in the late nineties.

  • Wendy Magana

Mr VanDerbosch, we got a new Physics teacher this week and we started doing the Work Problems we left off doing that are still on your overhead. We’re also doing the lab we never finished. It’s not the same at all, and i really hate it. I don’t enjoy going to Physics anymore. The teacher is trying his best and we respect that, but it’s just really hard. We miss you more than you could even imagine. They’ll find these guys soon. You’re still the best! Memories Last Forever just like outside your door says, unfortunately that’s all we really have. We miss and love you Mr Vandy <3

  • Terry Vanderbosch

    God, I love you kids.
