The document reads as follows:
From the office of the Mayor…Proclamation
Whereas; The Runnin’ Rebels are enjoying the best start to a season in almost two decades under first-year head coach and former Runnin’ Rebel player Dave Rice; and
Whereas; UNLV has been nationally ranked for more weeks this season than in any season since 1992-93 and has enjoyed its highest ranking this season since the 1992-93 campaign; and
Whereas; the Runnin’ Rebels had 20 wins before February this season for the first time since 1987; and
Whereas; Las Vegans love their Runnin’ Rebels and will be the critical SIXTH MAN in Saturday’s game vs. No.13 San Diego State at the Thomas & Mack Center – the most-anticipated UNLV regular season home game in nearly 20 years; now
Therefore; I, the Mayor of the City of Las Vegas, County of Clark, State of Nevada, hereby proudly proclaim February 10, 2012 as UNLV REBEL RED DAY in the City of Las Vegas and urge all citizens to proudly wear red in honor of our Runnin’ Rebels.
Signed,
Honorable Carolyn G. Goodman
Mayor, City of Las Vegas
