Everyone can relate to dilemmas in high school when it comes to bullies, horrible school lunches, and of course, finding a prom date. What very few people can relate to however, is the idea of going through all of that while fighting cancer. A New Jersey student, Kevin Mcguire, can relate and knows exactly what that’s like. Kevin Maguire, a high school senior in New Jersey, recently invited singer Taylor Swift to his prom, via a surprise from his sister who began a Facebook page and Twitter link begging her to go! After the pages became overnight sensations with over 100,000 supporters, Taylor responded!

After a local CBS news reporter confirmed with Taylor’s publicist that it was indeed her who sent the invite, Kevin said yes!

Kevin has been fighting leukemia for years and was thought to have beat it when he was 13. Now, as he goes through the painful and grueling process of fighting it again, he at least knows there’s a huge flow of support for him from around the world… about 100,000 people or so. …Oh, and one of music’s biggest artists!

“I have cancer. Cancer doesn’t have me.” McGuire said. “Taylor, I would love to go with you.”

The Academy of Country Music Awards take place on April 1st right here in Las Vegas!
